Where is the music going!?
This is a very interesting time to be a musician. Everyone seems to be excited about the changes in the industry, but nobody seems to have a clue where it’s headed. I have talked to people who have been in the biz for years and they simply don’t have any advice for promoting upcoming artists or bands. What is going on!?
I have been trying to “break into the scene” for quite a few years. Everyday I sit at my computer and do tons of research on where the music business might be headed, and how to promote with results. After hours and hours of reading interviews and listening to opinions, I have figured out one undeniable truth. NO ONE HAS A CLUE WHAT’S GOING ON!!!
I think this is just what the spirit of music needs right now. Many musicians have grown up with stars in their eyes, thinking that music is their stepping stone to riches and popularity. This ideology, in my opinion, was ignited by the popularity that rock and roll spurred in the 50’s and 60’s. The Beatles were sooo popular that soon after, every band sounded like the beatles. It happens so much in the music business and it makes me sick. Music is about emotion, not the money it brings. I hope these changes will act to weed out these imposters.
The music basket has been shaken, and only the true of heart will make it back to the top. Love life and live music!
